Nick and Gwenyth decided to build Tiger Hill Lodge in 2004, right when the Rail Trail started. The idea was to offer a comfortable place where cyclists can relax after their first day of riding from Clyde. Still today, the majority of our guests are cyclists loving the fact that the Lodge is situated right on the Rail Trail.
It was by train that young Gwenyth came from Dunedin to the small town of Omakau. The train used to bring the world to the area. Now, over 50 years later, Gwenyth loves sharing the beautiful place with visitors from all over the world. She would say: “Now, the Rail Trail brings the world to me!”
Tiger Hill Lodge is a family run business and aunty Kay, Nick and Andrea are also there to help and make sure all is tidy. Welcome!
