Nick and Gwenyth decided to build Tiger Hill Lodge in 2002, just when Rail Trail had started. The idea was to offer a comfortable relaxing place where cyclists can rest after the first day of riding from Clyde. We have received thousands of guests over the past 15 years and many still come back to ride the Trail or just relax at our lovely laid back lodge.
It was by train that young Gwenyth came from Dunedin to Omakau in 1962 to teach at the local school. Falling in love with a local farmer, she never left. Now over 50 years later, Gwenyth loves sharing this beautiful place with visitors from all over the world.
Tiger Hill Lodge is a small family run business with auntie Kay, Nick and Andrea there to help band make sure all is tidy and you are made very welcome!
